Job Description

Thorlabs is looking for an experienced Sales Operations Analyst to join our sales and technical services team. This data-focused position will play a critical role in generating and creating pricing models, developing forecasts for global sales teams, and developing recurring or ad-hoc reports. They will work closely with our global sales and business intelligence teams to understand market needs and requirements as well as provide resolutions that support our strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will utilize large data sets that cross between CRM and ERP system to track team progress against key performance metrics.

This position requires strong independent reasoning and problem-solving skills, with the capability to think proactively. Working closely with operations and sales leaders, the Sales Operations Analyst will bring innovative ideas and a creative spirit to provide deep insights into Thorlabs’ OEM and research customers. This is an exciting new role in a rapidly growing sales division and as such will provide a great platform for a high performer to contribute directly to the success of a fast-growing global sales division.

 

Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, monitor, and maintain pricing tools for Thorlabs custom component and OEM sales

  • Evaluate and maintain discounting practices, tools, and strategies Related to Thorlabs’ OEM business

  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate existing and potential clients, markets, products, and business opportunities.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally, with the ability to leverage story-telling skills and clearly communicate analytical information to both internal and external stakeholders at all levels

  • Collaborate with global OEM sales teams to assess and understand pricing and discounting requirements

  • Assess and communicate all pricing and discounting changes to the global OEM sales team tools

  • Work with Business Intelligence Team to understand and assess market pricing across product families

  • Responsible for facilitating data mining and executes queries to process data from multiple sources

  • Maintain daily records and communications and assists with continuous improvements

  • Perform other duties as required

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum Two years relevant and related work experience, preferably in a similar industry or with a consulting background

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, statistics or other related education or experience

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent attention to detail and presentation skills

  • Strong analytical and communication skills

  • Proven ability to manage large datasets, explore and utilize raw data feeds

  • Excellent data visualization skills and experience with dashboarding tools (Power BI)

  • Demonstrated experience with CRM and ERP tools in a sales organization

  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point) and communication tools. Must have expert understanding of Microsoft excel including use of pivot tables.

  • Ability to work independent as well as part of a team

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work under time constraints and willing to work when necessary to help get overall team goals accomplished

  • Learning oriented and focused on working with teams

  • Ability to fluently write and speak English

 

Other:

Travel may be required to other entities and tradeshows (<10%)
