Job Description

 The Product Development Engineering Manager reports to the President. The PDE Manager manages a group of Project engineers working with OEM accounts in the development of custom fiber optic cables and sub-assemblies. In addition, the PDE Manager and his team work closely with customers in their custom product design configurations and with manufacturing engineering to provide process documentation, tooling designs, and new product training to the production team.

Job Requirements



Working with sales, the PDE Manager and his team provides technical design solutions to meet our customers fiber optic probe design requirements.

 Manage design reviews with the team as well as with potential new or current customers

 Provides communication link from the new product development phase to manufacturing engineering, QA, supply chain, customer support, and marketing

 Create detailed 3D models using Solid Works

 Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, working cross functionally to meet deadlines

 Excellent Verbal & Written communication skills—solid Technical writing skills

 Experience with Minitab

 Create assembly drawings of tooling and equipment as required

 Generate parts lists (BOM) of manufactured and purchased parts

 Participate in PFMEA, LEAN, and validation activities as required

 High level of technical understanding of material science as it relates to use of epoxies, and their application usages

 Knowledge of product management concepts and how fiber optic cables and sub assembly finished products are positioned and developed




Education / Experience

B.S. engineering discipline, preferably optical, mechanical or chemical engineering

 5 years minimum experience with fiber optics based products or medical device manufacturing

 Knowledge of quality systems including ISO 9001:2015 & 13485:2016 risk mitigation

 Previous machinist experience would be an added plus

 Experience with ISO 13485 protocols

 Experience and working knowledge of wavelength sensitive epoxies technology

 Continuous Improvement experience, including 6S, VSM, Standard Work
