Job Description

The Digital Marketing Supervisor works to strengthen Thorlabs’ brand position by writing,

editing, and overseeing the development of effective digital marketing collateral that ensures Thorlabs’ brand message is portrayed appropriately in all communications (internal or external). Demonstrate a strong understanding of Thorlabs’ brand guidelines and use that knowledge to produce and/or review marketing collateral, ensuring it meets brand requirements. The Digital Marketing Supervisor will manage a team of Videographers and Digital Marketing Specialists, leveraging their skills and contributions to execute on digital collateral, including video, social media, web content, marketing campaign materials, and more. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, hands-on execution, and team management skills to achieve measurable results.

 

Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.

 

Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:

·       Leads the Digital Team in the planning and production of content necessary to support our ecommerce site, marketing campaigns, tradeshows, social media, and other digital materials. Works directly with Digital Marketing Manager to finalize content.

·       Utilizes project management skills to develop, successfully execute, and optimize marketing campaigns and other moderately complex projects across various platforms.

·       Utilizes analytics tools to track, measure, and analyze the performance of digital marketing efforts.

·       Supervises the Digital Team, clearly and effectively communicating project scope and desired outcomes. Fosters a collaborative work environment, encouraging continuous skill development.

·       Ensures all deliverables adhere to brand standards, are accurate, maximize channel exposure performance, and are delivered on time.

·       Independently develops content/deliverables for marketing campaigns, social media, video, webpages, internal comms, or other marketing purposes.

·       Oversees the planning/execution of social media, working closely with Digital Marketing Specialists on content and strategy, drawing in the Digital Marketing Manager and/or technical personnel on replies/content as appropriate.

·       Storyboards video content, meets with key technical personnel as needed to refine content, oversees video shoots, and provides feedback to improve video content.

·       Identifies and implements opportunities to increase the productivity and quality of output from Videographers and Digital Marketing Specialists.

·       Liaises with departments and business units to become familiar with their Digital Marketing needs and oversees projects and/or contributes content to deliver successful outcomes.

·       Partners with a cross-functional team (e.g., engineers, technical marketers, graphics staff, digital marketers) to plan, develop, and manage the successful delivery of compelling video and digital content that educates the photonics community about Thorlabs’ manufacturing capabilities, products, and their applications.

·       Participates in the development and execution of digital marketing strategies, doing online research as necessary to inform decision making; provides digital marketing guidance to senior marketing leaders based on thoughtful analysis of available data.

·       Stays up to date with the latest best practices and technologies for digital media. Researches and analyzes competitors’ digital marketing efforts to gain a strong understanding of the digital marketing landscape in the photonics industry.

Physical Activities:

 

This is largely a sedentary role. This may require the ability to lift, bend, or stand as necessary. The employee may occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.

Qualifications

 

Experience:

 

  • 5-7 years’ experience in digital marketing or communications.

 

  • 2+ years’ experience in a management role.

 

 

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a closely related field or equivalent work experience.

 

 

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills necessary to lead, manage, and execute complex projects from concept to final product.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working in a team environment.
  • Strong capacity to multitask, be detail oriented, solve problems, and work under tight time constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills to mediate and manage projects internally and in collaboration with other teams.
  • Willingness to constantly learn new technologies and new applications.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills in English.
