Job Description

Accountable for materials management, including inventory planning, purchasing, minimizing costs, inventory control, shipping and receiving. Directs the procurement of materials, components, supplies, equipment and services at favorable costs based on specifications and forecasts.  Develops supply base and relationships with suppliers to streamline supply chain to maintain minimal inventory and reporting accuracy.   Establishes and improves processes and maintains systems discipline and integrity synchronized with production demand.

Job Requirements


  • Responsible for all activities related to supply chain management including: supplier selection, supplier performance, import & export compliance, e.g. ITAR, EAR, purchased part pricing, supply agreements, inventory & production planning and control
  • Develop and implement materials management policies and procedures, work instructions and other documentation as required
  • Oversight of the ERP system
  • Knowledge of SAP HANA Supply Chain capabilities
  • Responsible for developing performance measurements with peers while being accountable for achievement of associated goals.
  • Prepares, reviews and processes requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment
  • Develop purchase plans in support of government contract proposals, i.e. small business subcontracting plans and reporting of same into eSRS database
  • Analyzes market and delivery methods of suppliers to determine suitability to satisfy present and future material and service demands
  • Support quote requests as needed
  • Direct supervision of purchasing, shipping/receiving, warehousing and master scheduling personnel
  • Work closely with engineering and manufacturing to ensure proper internal and external flow of materials to correspond with projects
  • Assure departmental compliance with AS9100 and ISO/TS 16949/9000 requirements


Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, 5-8 years experience in purchasing in a lean manufacturing environment, with a minimum of 5 years experience in materials management with a proven record in managing employees and departmental responsibilities.   CPIM/CPM designation desirable.  Experience using ERP systems including material systems transactions for production and distribution required, ERP experience a plus.  Must have strong communication skills, lean manufacturing knowledge and experience and able to work in a multi-disciplinary team as well as with outside vendors.  Must be well organized.  Experience in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required.
