Job Description

Coherent is seeking a Staff Process Engineer who will be responsible for the supporting the Manufacture of Diode Pump Solid State Lasers. The successful individual will have broad technical skills, interests and people skills that are well routed in the practice of process engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and sustaining a visual manufacturing environment
  • Implementing best practices in method development and delivery
  • Data acquisition and SPC control systems
  • Maintaining/improving first pass yields
  • Support the implementation of a lean manufacturing culture
  • Reducing touch times
  • Fluent with utilizing and improve data systems
Job Requirements

Education:

Minimum of BS in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or related Physical Sciences required. Demonstrated hands on experience of 7+ years within a manufacturing organization specifically working with complex precision instrumentation. Relevant experience with process monitoring and control, configuration control systems and WIP management systems.

• 7+ years of production experience in high-tech industry

• Excellent leadership and people skills

• Solid management skills

• Project management experience

• Fluent with Lean Production and Six Sigma principles

• Proficiency with standard desktop software (Outlook, Word, Excel, minitab)

• Excellent communication skills

• Self-motivated, driven personality

• Must work well in teams

• Precision cleaning and optics experience a plus
