Job Description
We are seeking a talented Optical Systems Integration Engineer to contribute to our LIDAR system development, integration, and test.    The successful candidate will join a cross-functional team that combines light sources, beam delivery systems, detectors, firmware, and software to create market-leading LIDAR systems.  The position requires an understanding of opto-mechanical system design, data acquisition, and data analysis. The individual will focus on bringing new products from prototype to production, from component-level prototype testing to evaluation of final product performance.  
  • Design verification of new sub-systems and functionality at a systems level
  • Create Bills of Material and procure parts for sub-assembly tests stations
  • Work closely with Systems Test Team to develop test plans and analyze data
  • Create internal documentation of analyses and test resultsPerform root cause analysis for Engineering, NPI, Manufacturing, and/or management as needed
  • Document overall system performance
  • Document subsystem interfacesAssist in development of system-level requirements for next-generation products
  • Validate system performance models
Job Requirements
  • Strong data analysis capability, including experience using MATLAB, R, Python, C++, and/or other programming language for data analysis
  • Experience with design of experiment (DOE/DOX), critical analysis, troubleshooting, and characterization
  • Practical knowledge of optical and electro-optical components and optical design considerations
  • Working knowledge of optical, mechanical, and electrical systems (both digital and analog)
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment and work independently

Bonus Points

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optics, or related field
  • Automotive experience
  • Embedded system design experience (VHDL or Verilog)
  • Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Minitab for data analysisExperience with LabView or MatLab for instrument control 

Education

  • Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optics, or related field
  • BS is acceptable with equivalent work experience
