A-Tech Corporation, d.b.a. Applied Technology Associates (ATA), is a privately-held, Hispanic-owned small business and headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico. ATA also has operations in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Huntsville, Alabama, Chantilly, Virginia, Greenbelt MD and White Sands Missile Range.
ATA is an advanced technology and products company that delivers space, airborne, and ground-based systems to government, aerospace, and commercial customers for imaging, high energy laser, inertial navigation, space systems, and laser communications applications with specialization in precision pointing, line-of-sight stabilization, and real-time software and controls products and systems. ATA has numerous engineering and program management positions open.
ATA develops embedded processing systems for commercial and DoD applications. Our primary focus involves the application of state-of-the art, FPGA and System-On-Chip (SOC) devices to high performance video processing, adaptive optics, laser communications, imaging sensors, and a wide range of real-time control systems for inertial measurement units, fast steering mirrors, and stabilized telescopes. ATA is looking for qualified candidates who are interested in working within a small, agile, innovative team and who share a strong desire to create a work environment that is highly collaborative, rewarding and fun.
Applied Technology Associates (ATA) is seeking a Computer Vision Engineer in support to the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Space Vehicles Advanced Technology (SVAT) contract. ATA is supporting AFRL in a variety of areas related to the design and flight of space vehicles. One of those areas is in the application and implementation of computer vision for the guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) for spacecraft. ATA is looking for qualified candidates who are interested in working within a small, agile, innovative team supporting Air Force projects and who share a strong desire to create a work environment that is highly collaborative, rewarding, and fun. The successful candidate will serve as an engineer within AFRL/ATA’s GNC team and contribute to a collection of projects to help with the development of algorithms and their implementation in a variety of programming languages. Current projects include support to two different laboratories for the purposes of raising the technology readiness levels (TRLs) of GNC algorithms and software. The projects focus on the development and implementation of computer vision techniques for rendezvous and proximity operations of one spacecraft around another. The laboratories emulate many aspects of spacecraft flight providing real-time testbeds and verification and validation platforms for GNC and related algorithms and software. We work in a heavily MATLAB-based environment, using MATLAB for modelling, simulation, testing, data analysis, and algorithm development and Simulink for the majority of our flight code development.
The Engineer’s duties will include:
- Develop and application of computer vision algorithms for spacecraft navigation
- Develop simulations for generating imagery data
- Develop simulations for testing computer vision algorithms and implementations
- Establish and apply algorithm performance metrics
- Represent ATA well with customers
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Ethical Conduct
- Strong Attention to Detail
- Strategic Thinking
- Organizational Skills
- Can quickly grasp new concepts and processes
