Job Description
  • Leads development activities in creating technologies and methods that improve overall business-unit capability and efficiency.
  • Designs, develops, and tests advanced optical systems, components, and products.
  • Performs and creates advanced analysis techniques for the testing of unique and novel optical components and systems.
  • Applies quantitative analysis in determining root cause of technical issues related to the fabrication, assembly, and testing of optical components and systems. 
  • Evaluates manufacturability of optical designs and provides feedback to both internal and external customers.
  • Develops and implements test procedures and evaluates and selects appropriate test methods and instrumentation.  Understands full breadth of specifications used to characterize optical surfaces and systems.
  • Generates optical budgets and sensitivities for optical components and systems.
  • Drafts acceptance test procedures and reviews data to verify compliance to customer requirements and specifications.
  • Mentors and trains junior engineers in technical skills and processes related to precision optical design and analysis.

Job Requirements
  • The ideal candidate will have a PhD or MS in optics or physics and 7-10 years' of experience in optical engineering, design, and metrology.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the design and testing of precision aspheres and optical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with testing, alignment, and troubleshooting of optical component and system metrology.
